Summertime

"Summer Time" (Hull #65 built in 1978) had three owners to our knowledge. Originally named "Testa Rosa" it appears she was berthed in Florida. The second owner renamed her "Dulcinea" and sailed her to Rhode Island. She was purchased in 2000 and renamed again and moved to Hyannis Port, Cape Cod.

My wife and I cruise her primarily in Nantucket Sound, Narragansett Bay and Long Island Sound visiting the Elizabeth Islands, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard often. We live about 3 minutes drive from her mooring, which means she can be day sailed at a moments notice.

Summer Time has a furling main and jib and auto pilot which allows me to be single handed her quite easily. Additional winches were added to aid in flying a cruising spinnaker.

The picture with her "sail number" on her life lines is for participation in the annual Memorial Day weekend "FIGAWI" (www.figawi.com) charity race from Hyannis to Nantucket. Summer Time is preparing for the start with family crew aboard. This is a big race with 200 plus sailboats involved, including 12 meter class boats. We usually are not competitive due to the crew and not the boat. Summer Time is a fairly stiff boat and does like a brisk breeze to get her weight going, last time was 25 knots and she reached her hull speed a few times.

Since we race with the Bimini up and side curtains we don't need to suit up in wet gear. She then becomes the party base after we get to Nantucket for our friends who are true racers and are cold and wet. We have heat.
